I think my marriage has come across a hurdle in the form of a plastic
girl named Blythe. I have found myself dipping into our funds to get
stuffs for her. Thad and I are hobbyists but at least his hobbies don't
require him spending too much money. He plays his keyboard or guitar or
Second Life while I constantly peruse ebay for Blythe related items.
And buying them. *groan*
In just a span of a week I've added
another Blythe to my toy collection. This was the girl I fell in love
with first...about a year ago. I kept putting it off knowing full well
that if I ever get a Blythe, there will be no turning back. I'm
hooked...and doomed. Oh happy doom.
If I have to defend
(animately, if needed) this new found expensive hobby, I'd say that
Blythe has rekindled the creative fire in me. Sure I'm creative at work
and I love that aspect but that is not my art. It is a job. The art in
my life has taken a 6 year sabbatical since work has sapped out all the
creative juices in me. But in the past week, since I decided to get a
Blythe, I'm all fired up with ideas for dresses, styling, props, blogs,
etc. I've forgotten how grand that feels. Also, I'm making new friends
whom I share common interests.
So now, I have two little plastic
girls, all redheads. My bright red-orange haired Mod Molly Blythe named
O.Dauphine will be my spunky little gamine. My latest acquisition, dark
smoldering ember haired one will be arriving from Japan next week. Here
is she is, in all her woodland sprite glory...Gentle River Blythe. I am broke but I'm happy.
